Manatee Marina is located in the historic fishing village of Port Salerno, south of Stuart in Martin County.

The area was originally settled in the 1920s, on the southern shores of the St. Lucie River Inlet. It was named “Salerno” because the main settlers were emigrants from the Italian City of Salerno.

Known as a fishing village, Port Salerno is a popular spot for fishing tournaments and water-based activities. The area’s main business center is located on the Manatee Pocket and includes restaurants, fishing supply stores, boating-related businesses and a bustling art center. The town is 4 square miles and at the time of the 2000 census, the population was 10,141.
